Topic: Legislative Advocacy with Alison Gill, American Atheists' VP Legal and Policy

This month, we have Alison Gill presenting on the American Atheists' legislative initiative, particularly regarding lobbying, advocacy, and training.  Her focus will be on relevant PA laws, but will also include trends around the country and whatever else she thinks will be of interest.  There will be a lengthy Q&A session, so please come armed with plenty of questions.  You can also send questions ahead of time to info@pghfreethought.org.

Alison Gill, Esq., is American Atheists’  Vice President for Legal and Policy.  She manages AA’s federal and state advocacy for religious equality and litigation activities to protect the separation of religion and government. Alison is a nationally recognized expert on civil rights law and state advocacy.

Prior to her work with American Atheists, Alison worked as a consultant to nonprofits focusing on advocacy strategy and systemic change and as Senior Legislative Counsel at the Human Rights Campaign, where she managed state-level advocacy on issues such as conversion therapy, bullying prevention, education discrimination, health and wellness, youth homelessness, and data collection.

Freethought Freeform is a variable format event that can be a group discussion, an interview, a tutorial, a movie discussion, a show-and-tell, an in-person event, or maybe something different.  It may feature an invited speaker, or maybe it won't. Topic and format will be chosen monthly by the host with inputs from the PFC community.  Email your suggestions to info@pghfreethought.org.
