Join the Pittsburgh Freethought Community board and members to help define PFC policies and create an action plan in response to the ongoing attacks on refugees, immigrants, and asylum seekers rights.

The Pittsburgh Freethought Community board of directors has charged the Activism & Social Justice committee jointly with the Public Policy committee to create a statement reflective of a Freethinkers stance on the crisis at the US-Mexico border. As you may already know, reports on the human rights violations and abuses happening on our southern border arrive on almost a daily basis. Just this past Monday President Trump created new legal actions to end asylum for the vast majority of migrants who arrive at the U.S.-Mexico border, which if passed ,is anticipated to create ‘a disastrous shift in policy that could block hundreds of thousands of people from seeking protection in the U.S.’ As Freethinkers, and therefore champions of human rights and dignity, we believe we must add our voice to those calling for an end to this crisis, as well as develop an action plan for how the PFC can make a difference.

We are asking anyone interested to join the PFC to help craft our policy statement on August 4th from 1:30pm-4:30 pm, immediately following the Freethought brunch in the park, at Carnegie Mellon University Center Connan Room (on the second floor). Please note parking in the east campus garage next to the University Center is both free and easy.
